Prize Categories

Prizes will be awarded to works of excellence in the following categories:

 
Music Composition
Music Composition
For a work of excellence in music composition of up to 10 minutes duration.
  • $500 spending money
  • Performance time in the Colbourne Ave concert series

The 2009 winner of this section was Spike Mason for his composition, "Three Steps". 

 
Visual Arts
Visual Arts

For a work of excellence in the visual arts - sculpture, painting, photography or installation.

  • $500 spending money
  • $150 gift voucher from Glebe Picture Frames
  • $140 gift voucher for dinner at "Selah" restaurant in Circular Quay
  • A selection of books from Gleebooks
  • A selection of art supplies from Eckersley's Art
  • Exhibition Space at GOYA's venue
  • $100 voucher from Steven English hair in Glebe
  • Full breakfast for two and exhibition space from Sam I Am in Glebe
The 2009 winner of this section was Caroline Jivane for her work, "Transformation". 2nd Prize was awarded to Rachel Moran for "Blue River" and 3rd Prize went to Francis Ingram for "The Impartial Witness".
 
Picture Book
Picture Book

For a previously unpublished picture book/comic book of excellence. Works can, but do not have to, include text but must primarily be illustration. Picture books may have any theme you choose. 

  • $500 spending money
  • A selection of picture books donated by Allen and Unwin

The 2009 winner of this section was Jill Page for her work, "A Legend of Samoa".

 
Performing Arts
Performing Arts
For a work of excellence in dance, drama, poetry, or other performing art (including music performance), of up to 10 minutes duration.
  • $500 spending money
  • Performance time in the Colbourne Ave concert series
  • Free performing venue for one performance and one rehearsal
  • Meal voucher at Flying Fajita Sisters in Glebe
The 2009 winner of this section was Hakan Manav for his Taekwondo-inspired performance.
 
Film & Video Production
Film & Animation

For a work of excellence in film or animation production of up to 10 minutes duration. Works may have any theme you choose.

  • $500 spending money.
  • Finalists may be included in the Colbourne Ave concert series.
  • Free screening venue for one event
The 2009 winner of this section was Michael Carney for his film "La Reception en Plein Air".
 
12 Years & Under
12 Years & Under

For a work of excellence in the visual arts (sculpture, painting, photography or installation) or a film or video production of up to 5 minutes duration, by an artist aged 12 years or younger.

  • $100 spending money
  • A selection of art supplies from Eckersley's Art
  • A selection of picture books from Allen and Unwin
  • A selection of gifts from Monkey Puzzle toy store
  • x2 $50 gift vouchers for art courses at ArtEst art school
  • A selection of Introductory Welcome packs to the Australian Martial Arts Academy

The 2009 winners of this section were Steven Surb for "The Keeper of My Family History" and Yossi Sundakov-Krumins for "Save Me". 2nd Prize was awarded to Leon Liang for "God's Creations" and 3rd Prize went to Finlae Gibb for her installation "Bird City".
